Clay Studio Membership
With a Clay Studio membership, you have unlimited access to the studio during our open hours. Memberships are a great way to meet other local artists in the greater Santa Barbara community, share ideas, and inspire one another.
Beginning September 1st, 2023, monthly memberships are $300 per month. Quarterly memberships are $825. Annual memberships are $3,000.
Membership Includes:
Unlimited access to the studio during open hours (9:00am–9:00pm Monday through Friday, 9:00–5:00pm on Saturday and Sunday), as well as full use of Clay Studio equipment, which includes:

36 Brent and Shimpo potters’ wheels, including a stand up wheel

1 large slab roller

6 hand building tables

Locker Storage

Storage shelves to store work in progress

Photography room with professional lights and backdrop

Studio Day Passes
Looking to work in the studio with less commitment? Clay Studio SB offers day passes for $35 per day. To obtain a day pass, simply arrive at Clay Studio on the day in which you would like to work and notify a staff member, who will complete your purchase.

Non-member Firing and Glazing
For those who are looking to fire and glaze their work at Clay Studio but are not studio members, a volume-based box system will be used to measure bisqueware. You must purchase clay from Clay Studio, and then pay for a bisque firing of your greenware according to our box system. Makers will be charged separately glaze firings in accordance with space taken up in the kiln. When work is ready to be bisque or glaze fired, a Clay Studio staff member will measure the work and complete the purchase using the following price points:
Small: 12 in x 24 in x 6 in
Bisque box $15
Glaze box $35
Medium: 12 in x 24 in x 8 in
Bisque box $20
Glaze box $45
Large: 12 in x 24 in x 10 in
Bisque box $25
Glaze box $55
(A discount will be applied for any unused space)
Clay must be purchased from Clay Studio in order to be fired.

Cancellation Policy
We do not offer refunds for memberships, or days missed during your membership month due to travel, injury, etc. Similar to a gym or other monthly memberships, when you sign up for the month you are committing to the month. If you plan to cancel your membership, please notify the Clay Studio staff who will complete your cancellation. Your cancellation will become effective on the last day of your monthly membership.
Private Firing & Kiln Rental Pricing
Private firings are intended for individuals who are interested in processing work outside of the studio firing schedule or temperatures/atmospheres. We can be flexible with our kiln schedule in order to accommodate deadlines. Clay Studio staff will load and fire the work. A security deposit of $150 is required for the use of outside glazes.
