Trimming the Wobble – Saturday Session

Description: This Saturday Session will focus on how to trim a piece that has been altered after throwing. Students should come to class with 3-4 leather hard pieces of their own that are ready to be trimmed. Ashley will cover how to support, center, and fixture these pieces to the wheel while trimming. Students will learn how to identify the center of an asymmetric piece using tap centering and how to listen to your piece before starting to trim so we can avoid creating weak spots or failures. These techniques are also transferrable to pieces that have an unintentional wobble! By the end of the session, students will learn how to trim pieces to have non-symmetric feet by leveraging the wheel. Age 18+

Experience needed: Intro to Wheel Throwing, or equivalent experience, is encouraged.
