Description: In this six-week class, students with some clay experience will learn the art of Raku pottery. The class is divided into two parts: the first three weeks will focus on building ware to fire, learning how to fire in the raku style, and a brief presentation on how to build your own raku kiln. In the last three weeks, students will fire their work using both natural elements and unique glazes specific to Raku. At the end of this class, participants will gain a deeper understanding of Raku techniques. Each student will leave with a set of unique and beautiful pottery pieces and the knowledge to continue creating Raku pottery on their own. Resources for further exploration after the class ends will also be provided. Age 18+.
This course is suitable for: This class is suitable for intermediate students with some experience working with clay.
