Dates: Wednesdays,  3/6 – 4/24

Times: 5:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Price: $360 (glaze, one bag of reclaimed clay, firing, instruction and drop-in open studio time included). Tools ($15 + tax for a toolkit) and additional clay ($10-$35 for a 20-25 lb bag) available for purchase at Clay Studio.

This will be a general skill-building 8-week class where we explore the traditional Korean-style moon jars. Skills taught include throwing small to medium size moon jars, how to throw with soft clay, how to throw larger, and how to apply different surface textures.

Students will not be allowed to trim or create new work during the last week as it is designated for glazing and wrapping up pieces. Optional lab hours will be available for students who want some independent working time to hone their skills. Age 18+.

This course is suitable for: Intermediate and advanced students. Skill expectation is that the student can confidently center and throw an 6’’ tall basic cylinder.

Recommended prerequisite classes: At least one Introduction to Wheel Throwing class (the more experience, the better).

Drop-in Lab hours:

Students are welcome to come in during our open studio lab hours to work independently on Tuesdays 3 PM-8 PM and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays 10 AM-4 PM. Please note that occasional workshops and events may be held during lab hours, in which case some wheels may be occupied. Lab hours are subject to change depending on studio needs.

*In the case that a make-up class must be scheduled, the students will be notified and the class may be held on a different day of the week. A refund or credit will not be issued in the case that a student cannot attend the make-up class.
