Handbuilt Tableware (Outdoors at Clay Studio)

Description: In this four week class, you will learn the fundamentals of handbuilding while making your own set of tableware in a peaceful outdoor setting. Instructor Jacob Adivi will introduce you to a variety of handbuilding methods, including slab construction, coil building, and pinch pots. By the end of the course you’ll have your own handmade plates, cups, mugs, platters and more to enjoy at home. Beginners welcome!

About your instructor:Since Jacob was eight-years-old, the malleability and plasticity of clay has served as his therapy. He applied his appreciation for art as an executive youth board member of the LA Museum of the Holocaust where he has curated exhibits and displayed his ceramic work. Through the museum, Jacob co-founded the non-profit L’Dough V’Dough, where intergenerational sessions focused on tolerance and storytelling are now held on college campuses across the U.S. Over the years, Jacob has enjoyed teaching hand building to children, wheel throwing to adults, and kick wheel skills to Ugandan college students. Aside from being an ardent potter, Jacob is a beekeeping enthusiast and passionate about the environment.
