Gaining the Confidence to Throw Bigger Vessels – Saturday Session

Description: Do you feel that you’ve developed your throwing skills but are worried about the strength it seems to take to throw larger? This Saturday Session will help the beginner/intermediate potter gain confidence in throwing with larger mounds of clay by focusing on technique over strength to achieve their goals. Ashley will cover how to wedge larger amounts of clay efficiently using the spiral method, how to center with confidence and steady hands, and will lead students step-by-step in finishing a piece from 5 pounds of clay—but wait! We will finish out the class by dissecting our vessel to check our work… practice makes perfect! Over the course of 3 hours you will join up to 7 other experienced potters in growing your pottery practice. Age 18+

Experience needed: Intro to Wheel Throwing, or equivalent experience, is required.
