Chocolate 101: Tasting Workshop

Description: Join us for an evening to Rediscover Chocolate with local artisan Chocolatiers & Chocolate educators Figs & Chocolate! We will walk through the history of Chocolate, the artistic process of making Chocolate, & why eating Chocolate improves your overall health. Then, journey with us through 5 artisan chocolate tastings with expert Chocolatier, Dr. Eric Durtschi. It will be an evening to remember.

About the instructor:
The son of a candy maker, Dr. Eric Durtschi had an intense passion for all things chocolate from an early age of 8 years old. He decided to pursue a profession in health and wellness, and as a chiropractor, he was frequently asked to offer diet and healthy living advice. During his research, he learned that cacao was an amazing superfood in its unadulterated state. He began development of the world’s first brewed cacao in 2007. Dr. Durtschi purchases premium cocoa beans directly from cocoa farmers. He also discovered and developed methods of processing cocoa beans that help to retain more of the cocoa’s beneficial compounds. Working directly with farmers from across the world for almost 15 years now, he teaches them superior processing techniques that help them earn a premium for their beans as well as provide some of the finest cocoa beans available.
Dr. Eric & Cassandra Durtschi have merged their unique talents, passions, and experience to create Figs & Chocolate. They have grown to be one of the leading artisan chocolatiers & chocolate educators in the nation. They have taught all over the world including United States, Australia, Canada, Korea; winning awards internationally for their chocolate.
