Bowls, Bowls, All Types of Bowls! – Monday Afternoons with Isaih Porter (6/5 – 7/10), 1:00 PM-4:00 PM

Dates: Mondays, June 5th – July 10th (6 weeks)

Times: 1:00PM – 4:00PM

Price: $360 (glaze, 1 bag of B Mix clay, firing, instruction and drop-in open studio time included). Tools ($20 + tax) and additional clay ($15-$35 per 25 lb bag) available for purchase at Clay Studio.

Description: Students will be instructed on how to make several different styles of bowls. We’ll talk about the basic fundamentals of throwing bowls, as well as: throwing off-the-hump, scaling up to larger serving bowls, making pedestal bowls (in 2-parts), chip-and-dip-style bowls, and some more types of bowls along the way. Isaih will also demonstrate the techniques he uses to glaze (dipping, pouring, spraying, and painting) and wax bowls so they come out of the kiln beautifully and safely. Age 18+.

This course is suitable for: Intermediate and advanced students

Recommended prerequisite classes: At least one Introduction to Wheel Throwing class (the more experience, the better)

Drop-in open studio hours will be available for this course: Students are welcome to come in to Clay Studio during our Open Studio Lab hours to work independently on Sundays from 11AM-4PM, Mondays from 10AM-1PM, Tuesdays from 4PM-8PM, and Fridays from 10AM-1PM. Please note that Open Studio Lab hours are subject to change.
