Beyond the Symmetry – Saturday Session

Dates: Saturday, July 8th, 2023

Time: 3pm – 5pm

Price: $75 per person (clay and instruction included). Tools available for purchase at Clay Studio.

Description: Students will leave this Saturday Session with a thrown and altered piece. Ashley will cover different ways to alter a piece, including asymmetric bowl and cup rims, folded or flattened sides, and pourer spouts. Students will learn different strategies for altering techniques that are best suited to varying stages of clay, from freshly thrown to leather hard. At the end of the session, participants will discuss how to make these alterations with a focus on functionality, from a mug with finger indents to a nicely pouring spout. These pieces can be used for Ashley’s next Saturday Session on trimming altered pieces, or they can be trimmed independently when ready. Over the course of 2 hours you will join up to 7 other experienced potters in growing your pottery practice. Age 18+

Experience needed: Intro to Wheel Throwing, or equivalent experience, is required.
